Local reports revealed that 59-year-old Paul Anthony Briggs of West Columbia was traveling down the interstate when he lost control of the vehicle and re-entered traffic to regain control. He came to a stop in an outside lane when he was hit by an oncoming 18-wheeler. 

Briggs suffered fatal injuries and was later pronounced dead. No additional information on the deadly accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the fatal crash is being managed by local law enforcement officials, and more updates will be released as it progresses.
