The fatal accident was reported at the intersection of West Cano Street and 10th Avenue near the Hidalgo County Courthouse. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene of a reported pedestrian accident at around 8:36 a.m. A 55-year-old man from Edinburg was crossing the street when he was hit by a tractor-trailer.
The truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. The injured party was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The identity of the deceased has been withheld.
