The accident was reported at the intersection of Doolittle and Monte Cristo Roads at around 3:15 p.m. It was reported that a 53-year-old man was driving an 18-wheeler when he went into oncoming traffic and collided with a dump truck.
The driver of the rig was arrested under suspicion of driving under the influence. The operator of the dump truck was hospitalized for treatment of sustained injuries. The area was closed for several hours while emergency workers were present.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the collision is in progress.
