Elgin, TX - One Killed in Head-On 18-Wheeler Crash at US-290 & Swenson Blvd

Elgin, TX (August 31, 2023) - One person died after a two-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer in the Elgin area on Saturday, August 26. 

The deadly accident took place on US-290 WB near Swenson Boulevard that afternoon at around 2 p.m. It was reported that a pickup truck was traveling east when it collided head-on with an oncoming 18-wheeler. The 23-year-old man driving the pickup was transported to a hospital in Austin in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead. 

The operator of the semi-truck reportedly refused treatment from responding paramedics. They are currently cooperating with authorities. The identities of the involved parties have been withheld. 

An ongoing investigation into the cause of the fatal accident is in the hands of local law enforcement officials.
