Deadly Pedestrian Crashes in Texas

Fort Worth, TX - Pedestrian Dies in Accident on US-287Pedestrians have almost nothing to protect them in the event of a crash. Because of this, pedestrian accidents frequently result in serious injuries, escalating medical expenses, and other losses that can be difficult to handle. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) has shown that throughout the previous five years, there has been a nearly 29.6 percent increase in the state’s pedestrian fatality rate. In 2022, there were 5,764 pedestrian-related collisions in Texas, which led to 1,526 major injuries and 829 fatalities. Nearly one in five traffic fatalities in the state involve pedestrians, and these crashes are much more likely to end in fatal injuries. If someone close to you is killed in a pedestrian crash, you may be able to pursue a claim for compensation with the help of a trained lawyer.

You would think that other drivers would be considerate of your space and pay attention to the road. Sadly, a lot of careless drivers hit pedestrians on a daily basis. If the victim is killed, a representative of the deceased, usually a close family member, can pursue a wrongful death claim in order to pursue lost compensation. A pedestrian can very easily sustain severe or even fatal injuries if distracted drivers do not yield the right of way as needed, and most pedestrian accidents are caused by motorist negligence of one kind or another. Reckless drivers should be held responsible for their actions in the event of a serious crash.
