The initial impact threw him from his bike onto the road, where he was hit by a second car. The driver of the first vehicle stopped to render aid to the injured rider. The second driver continued driving but later pulled over on the roadway as his car was leaking oil. The motorist told authorities he was unable to see what he had hit. 

The injured rider was flown to Memorial Hermann via Life Flight in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead. The identity of the deceased party has been withheld. An ongoing investigation into the deadly cycling accident is in progress, and more information will be released as it becomes available.
