The pickup collided with a northbound Jeep SUV. The driver of the Jeep, later identified as 33-year-old Carlos Alberto Arias Vera, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the Jeep was hurt and transported to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the Ram, 24-year-old Clesiz Leiva, was also hospitalized. 

Leiva was later charged with one count of intoxicated manslaughter and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. No further information on the fatal crash is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly accident is being managed by local law enforcement officials.

Irving, TX (March 20, 2024) – On Sunday, March 17, one person was killed and another was injured after a crash involving an alleged drunk driver in the Irving area. The deadly collision was reported at the corner of N. Belt Line Road and Lakeview Drive early that morning at around 7:30 a.m. Local reports indicated that a Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling southbound when the driver crossed over into northbound traffic.
