The deadly accident was reported on US-337 near Mt. Gilead Road at around 1 a.m. A passenger vehicle was traveling on the highway when it collided with an 18-wheeler. The driver of the vehicle suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger traveling in the car was taken to Grapevine Hospital in serious condition.
No other injuries were reported in the collision. The area was closed for several hours and later reopened at around 7 a.m.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly accident is in progress.
