Texas 18-Wheeler Accidents
Commercial trucks like semi-trucks and tractor-trailers are necessary for the American economy to function. However, other drivers are known to sustain serious injuries in crashes with large commercial rigs. Semi-trucks are massive vehicles that routinely move dangerous goods across the nation. In just 2019, a total of 5,237 truck accidents resulted in fatalities, according to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). There were another 119,000 collisions that were severe enough to cause injuries.
Standards are in place to ensure a minimal level of safety for both the driver and the trucking business. Professional truck drivers are always required to complete specialized safety training and adhere to strict traffic laws. Unfortunately, both the firms and the drivers use shortcuts to boost profits, even at the expense of endangering other drivers’ lives.
Sometimes, the driver continues to operate the commercial vehicle after the allotted working hours, which can result in drowsy or exhausted driving. Tractor-trailer collisions can happen when a driver simply disobeys the laws of the road that apply to all drivers or when there are violations of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
