Texas has a high rate of fatal pedestrian accidents. In fact, statistics show that nearly one in every five traffic fatalities in the state involves a pedestrian. In 2021, there were 5,370 pedestrian accidents reported in the Lone Star State, and these crashes resulted in a total of 843 reported fatalities. This is a nearly 15 percent increase from 2020. There are more fatal pedestrian accidents taking place each year, and you should be ready in case you or a loved one is hurt or killed in an unexpected crash on Texas roadways.
Pedestrians are more exposed to the dangers of the road because there is little protection from the full impact of a collision. When a massive semi-truck hits a pedestrian, the chance of fatal and life-changing injuries is incredibly high. There is a lot at stake when someone close to you is killed by the actions of a reckless driver, and you need to make sure you are able to pursue a strong case for recovery. You should not try to pursue a wrongful death claim on your own. Instead, contact a trusted Texas semi-truck lawyer to make sure your case is as strong as possible.
Losing someone close to you is always difficult. It is even harder to deal with if you later find out their death was caused by the negligent actions of a truck driver. Texas state law provides families with the opportunity to pursue a case in order to cover damages relating to the fatal crash. Wrongful death cases are some of the most difficult and complicated types of civil suits, and you need to have a trained attorney on your side to make sure that you are able to make a complete recovery.
