The deadly accident was reported on Interstate 40 in Wheeler County just before midnight. A 59-year-old man from New Castle, Oklahoma, was driving a 2009 Dodge 3500 pickup towing a flatbed trailer on the highway. The man collided with a 2018 Freightliner truck-tractor towing a semi-trailer that was parked on the shoulder.
The driver of the Dodge sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly crash is in progress.
