The accident was reported on Interstate 10 at around 1 p.m. as a 53-year-old Louisiana man was traveling eastbound in a Ford Taurus. A Kenworth tractor-trailer operated by a 70-year-old Florida man was in the highway’s center lane. The driver of the Ford made a lane change when he hit the 18-wheeler before spinning around and hitting an outside barrier. 

The driver was not hurt, but a 76-year-old woman traveling in the Taurus was transported to Baptist Hospital in Beaumont for treatment. The driver was cited for making an unsafe lane change. 

An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is in progress.
