Pedestrian Accidents in Texas
Now more than ever before, we are seeing a rise in the number of people who walk to their destinations. Walking is a safe and reliable method for transportation Texans of all ages utilize every day. Although we want to believe this activity presents no challenges or negative consequences, it is hard to ensure the safety of pedestrians when they are walking on sidewalks and throughout busy areas occupied by negligent and reckless drivers. Unfortunately, pedestrians are subjected to debilitating injuries from auto accidents at an alarming rate.
In fact, nearly ten thousand people across Texas are injured in pedestrian accidents each year. In several cases, victims are left with debilitating injuries that require extensive medical treatment. The fact that pedestrians are more vulnerable than travelers inside vehicles means they are more likely to suffer life-altering injuries that require immediate treatments, like surgery and hospitalization. Many pedestrians sustain brain injuries, broken bones, and debilitating spinal cord injuries that require both immediate and long term treatment. These injuries are more likely to result in overwhelming pain and suffering and stacking medical treatment. Being forced out of work while having to spend thousands of dollars on medical treatment is seemingly impossible for victims and their families. For this reason, victims are afforded legal routes that allow them to collect compensation to alleviate some of the costs they face moving forward. Those harmed in collisions caused by reckless drivers should reach out to a pedestrian accident attorney in Texas at their earliest convenience to explore legal options available for them.
