Escobares, TX (March 11, 2020) – The victim who lost their life in a devastating collision on Saturday afternoon has been identified by police.

On March 7, at around 1:25 p.m., emergency crews in Starr County responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on US Highway 83. Reports indicate that 18-year-old Adalberto Barron was traveling down the roadway, in a brown Chevrolet pickup, while utilizing his cellphone.

Barron lost control of his vehicle and went off the road. His vehicle collided with a white Nissan Sentra then struck two pedestrians.

One pedestrian, who was identified as 68-year-old Oneida Guerra, suffered fatal injuries in the collision.

Barron was subsequently arrested and charged with manslaughter and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
