Floyd County, TX (April 4, 2020) – A dog attack on Saturday left one officer injured.

On April 4, reports from the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office indicate that Deputy Alex Gutierrez was trying to load up his K-9 Angus when the dog turned and attacked him.

Gutierrez sustained injuries in the attack. In an effort to escape the dog’s grip, Gutierrez shot the K-9. Gutierrez was rushed to Mangold Memorial ER by Lockney EMS.

At this time, the incident remains under investigation.

Our thoughts are with Deputy Alex Gutierrez at this time. We hope for his full recovery.
