Gainesville, TX - Two Killed in Crash with Stopped Semi on I-35

Gainesville, TX (February 21, 2024) - On Tuesday morning, February 20, two people were killed following a crash involving a stopped semi-truck in the Gainesville area. The fatal accident took place on Interstate 35 early that morning as two people were traveling in a vehicle. At that time, a disabled semi-truck was on the side of the road due to an initial crash.

The 19-year-old Sanger resident driving the vehicle hit the truck. The impact caused the driver and their passenger, a 22-year-old from Gainesville, to be ejected from the car. Both sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.

No one was in the truck at the time of the collision. The area was temporarily closed while emergency crews were present. No further information on the fatal accident is currently available. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash is being managed by local law enforcement officials.

We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased victims at this time.
