Who Owns Your Nursing Home?

Do you know who owns your nursing home – and does it even matter?

As more and more Texas nursing homes are purchased by private equity investors, safety experts are becoming concerned that new, short-term investors are putting money before quality elder care.
In recent years, as it becomes more difficult for private owners to profit from running nursing homes, private equity investment firms have stepped in. These investors can be less interested in providing the elderly with healthy, comfortable, and safe environments and more interested in turning a quick profit on a short-term investment. While a new study is underway to determine whether or not private equity nursing homes are as well-run as privately owned nursing homes, you still may wish to consider this factor when placing your loved one in an adult care facility.
Here are a few questions to ask about the ownership of a nursing home during a placement search:

  • Who owns this nursing home?
  • Who manages and operates this nursing home?
  • Does the owner have other nursing homes in Texas or in other states?
  • Has ownership changed hands in recent years?
  • What experience does the owner of the nursing home have in the business?
  • Has the owner of the nursing home been involved in any nursing home violations or in allegations or nursing home abuse or neglect?

Do you need legal advice regarding who was at fault for a case of nursing home abuse or nursing home neglect? Speak with the Texas nursing home neglect attorneys at Rasansky Law Firm today during a free, no-obligation consultation.
