Porter, TX - Driver Arrested After Pursuit Ends in Injury Crash on US-59

Porter, TX (April 9, 2024) - A man is in custody after a crash that resulted in the injury of a sheriff’s deputy in the Porter area on Sunday, April 7. The accident was reported on US-59 near the Exit for Farm to Market Road 1314 that morning. Local reports revealed that the driver, 18-year-old Alejandro Zair of Porter, led officials on a chase after fleeing the scene of a traffic stop on Sorters Road. 

Zair was driving a red Chevrolet Camaro when he reportedly hit one of the deputy’s vehicles, causing a crash on the highway. The impact caused the sheriff’s vehicle to become airborne and crash into a nearby embankment.  Zair then crashed into a telephone pole before fleeing the scene on foot. The deputy in the vehicle sustained a broken nose and bruised ribs, and he had to receive stitches and staples. Zair was arrested and is currently facing charges related to the incident. An ongoing investigation into the cause of the accident is being managed by local law enforcement officials, and more updates will be provided as it continues.
